MILPITAS >> The Konocti Youth Soccer League under-10 boys team, the Dragons, placed second during the Spring 2026 Cal North District 2 Recreational Cup last weekend in Milpitas.

The Dragons went 3-0 in bracket play before dropping a 3-0 decision Sunday to the Alum Rock Tornados in the championship game.

During bracket play Saturday and Sunday, the Dragons beat the San Jose Raptors 6-2, the Sunnyvale Alliance 2-0, and the Milpitas Dragons 4-0.

For the KYSL Dragons, Luis-Mario Medina led the team with four tournament goals while Joel Vargas and Iker Arroyo each scored three. Noah Reyes and Jorge Toche had one apiece. Keeper Aaron Strickler registered eight saves.

“Our boys had a great tournament,” KYSL Dragons coach Roberto Reyes said. “They competed hard, went undefeated in bracket play, and earned their spot in the championship game by finishing first in our bracket. The final didn’t go our way, but I’m proud of the effort, toughness and teamwork they showed all weekend.”

Added Reyes, “Every player played a part in helping us get there, and this group continues to grow. They represented Lake County very well.”
