Boys
Jon Hawkins (Jr.) Middletown High School basketball
In four games this past week, Jon Hawkins finished with three double-doubles as the Mustangs went 3-1. He had 22 points in a league win over Cloverdale and 21 points and 17 rebounds in a victory KIPP San Jose in the opening round of the second annual Gary von Raesfeld Memorial Tournament at St. Vincent High School in Petaluma. He followed that up with 11 points in a tournament loss to Maria Carrillo, and 11 points and 14 rebounds in a victory over St. Vincent in the third-place game. He was named to the All-Tournament team.
Girls
Mia Hoogendoorn (Sr.) Middletown High School basketball
Hoogendoorn scored 60 points in three games over the weekend at the Redwood Empire Invitational Basketball Tournament (REIBT) in Healdsburg as the Mustangs claimed the consolation championship with victories over Ukiah and Tamalpais. She was named to the REIBT All-Tourney team for a third year in a row. Hoogendoorn also helped Middletown beat Cloverdale earlier in the week in a meeting of last year’s North Central League I co-champions. It was the league opener for both teams. She currently has 1,145 career points, which ranked her 30th on the list of Lake County’s all-time career scorers (go to briansumptersports.com and click the career leaders page to see the full list). She is third on Middletown’s list of career scoring leaders and moving up quick.
