LAKEPORT >> The Westshore pee wee football team closed out a perfect regular season with a 28-6 victory over Northshore in Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League action Saturday in Lakeport.

The Cardinals (8-0) advance to the league playoffs and draw Fort Bragg (5-3) this coming Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Sonoma. Westshore beat Fort Bragg 25-12 earlier this month at Fort Bragg. The winner advances to the championship round the following Saturday against the winner of the other semifinal between Lower Lake (7-1) and Willits (6-2).

“It was another great team win,” Clear Lake head coach Vince Rave said. “The team is motivated and ready to hit the road for the playoffs. We’re extremely proud coaches. This group of boys has put in the work all season long and their hard work paid off with our undefeated season.”

Vincent Rave rushed for 148 yards, two touchdowns and an extra point in the regular-season finale against Northshore (3-5). Chance Poland added 36 yards and two touchdowns while Adrian Wright scored three extra points.

“Defensively they played great,” Rave said of his Cardinals. “We had a lot of players rallying to the ball and making group tackles.”
