MIDDLETOWN >> Brambles is hosting the second annual Mount St. Helena Invitational on Friday. The event brings together dedicated golfers for a day of competition, camaraderie, and a celebration of Northern California’s rich tradition in women’s golf.
This year’s Invitational features a special appearance by Amy Alcott, World Golf Hall of Fame member and five-time major champion on the LPGA Tour. A California native who resides in Santa Monica, Alcott’s presence brings a meaningful connection to the region’s storied golf heritage.
The Mount St. Helena Invitational builds on a successful inaugural event in 2025 when a field of players from Brambles, Meadow Club, Olympic Club, and Hidden Valley Lake Golf Club competed in challenging conditions. Tiffany Pickens claimed individual honors while the team title was awarded to Tiffany Pickens and Teresa Sand of Hidden Valley Lake Golf Club.
Women’s amateur golf in Northern California dates back more than a century, with organized competitions such as the NCGA Women’s Amateur beginning in 1903. The region has long been a proving ground for exceptional talent, including LPGA standouts Paula Creamer, Pat Hurst, Juli Inkster and Patty Sheehan as well as influential amateurs like Dorothy Delasin, Marlene Hagge, Kay Cockerill and Dr. Patricia Cornett.
Set against the backdrop of Mount St. Helena — the highest peak in the Mayacamas range at 4,340 feet — the Invitational reflects both the natural beauty and historical significance of the region. The mountain, named for Russian Princess Helena de Gagarin and once a retreat for author Robert Louis Stevenson, remains an iconic presence overlooking Middletown and the Brambles property.
The 2026 event features both an Individual championship and a two-person team championship. It offers a format designed to be equally competitive and enjoyable.
“We’re excited to continue building this event in a way that honors the history of women’s golf in Northern California while creating something distinctly Brambles — welcoming, competitive and grounded in the joy of the game,” said Thomas Holmes, Golf Professional at Brambles.
Brambles is a private club located in Middletown and is known for its understated approach to hospitality, emphasis on playability, and commitment to community and stewardship of the land.
