Team wins three out of five games during two-day competition

SONOMA >> The Lake County Diamonds club softball team beat the Sonoma Revolution 10-2 on Sunday to clinch third place in the Bowen Padgett-Midgley Strike Out Cancer Tournament in Sonoma.
Winning pitcher Emmie Hernandez led the Diamonds at the plate with three hits while teammate Araya Dotson added two hits. Cataleya Valencia, Ava Cockrill, Estella Del Sarto and Faith Myers also had hits.
Earlier Sunday, the Diamonds fell 16-1 to the Windsor Wicked in the tournament semifinals. Losing pitcher Dotson, Myers, Del Sarto and Addison Brown finished with two hits each. Hernandez had the other Diamonds hit.
During pool play Saturday, the Diamonds won two out of three games, beating the Benicia Outlaws-Manzi 14-2, the Sonoma Revolution 3-1, and dropping a 9-5 decision to the PHBA Panthers.
Against Benicia, Hernandez was the winning pitcher while Dotson went 2-for-3 with a double. Cockrill went 2-for-2. Hernandez, Valencia, Gracie Castillo and Brooklyn Brown each had one hit. Maddie Richter walked three times.
In the win over the Sonoma Revolution, Dotson picked up the pitching win while Hernandez went 2-for-2 at the plate. Valencia and Richter both drew two walks.
In the loss to the PHBA Panthers, Dotson went 2-for-2 with two doubles while Hernandez tripled. Valencia, Brown and Avery English had one hit apiece. Valencia was the losing pitcher.
