KELSEYVILLE >> In a battle of co-ed soccer teams with undefeated league records, Middletown Middle School edged Mountain Vista 2-1 on Monday afternoon in Kelseyville.
Middletown (3-0 league, 4-0 overall) took a 1-0 lead into halftime, scored early in the second half to go up 2-0, then fought off the Lancers the rest of the way.
Erik Gomez scored for Mountain Vista (2-1 league, 7-3 overall) to halve Middletown’s lead, but the Lancers couldn’t get another shot past the Broncos’ keeper, according to head coach Oscar Lopez.
“We were attacking, attacking and kept chipping away, but we couldn’t get that tying goal no matter how hard we tried,” Lopez said.
Isaac Delgado and Andres Yebra scored Middletown’s goals. Andres Yebra assisted on Delgado’s goal while Xavier Yebra assisted on brother Andres Yebra’s goal.
“Coming back from spring break we were flat with no energy,” Lopez said.
