CLOVERDALE >> Washington School rallied from an early 6-0 deficit to beat Middletown 14-13 in a middle school softball slugfest Monday afternoon in Cloverdale.
Middletown carried a 6-0 lead into the bottom of the second inning before Washington School began its comeback, avenging a loss last week at Middletown.
Cataleya Valencia went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Middletown while losing pitcher Avery Zolensky went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Mia Martin added two hits while Heather Warren (1-for-3, double) and Frankie Fagalde (1-for-2) both drove in two runs.
Zolensky worked 2 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on four hits with five strikeouts and four walks.
Middletown returns to action Monday at home against Obsidian Middle School.
