Mountain Vista softball completes 3-0 week

Lancers defeat Upper Lake 8-5, face big game Monday against Middletown

KELSEYVILLE >> Playing their second game in as many days and third game this week, the Mountain Vista Lancers defeated the Upper Lake Wildcats 8-5 in middle school softball action Thursday afternoon in Kelseyville.

“This was our third game this week and we came out flat and looked tired,” Mountain Vista head coach David Kennedy said. “We were able to fight through it and get the win against a tough opponent who wouldn’t go away.”

Nevaeh Davis went 2-for-3 with a triple and RBI to spark the Lancers (4-0 league, 6-5 overall) at the plate. Winning pitcher Maylee Antoni went 1-for-2 with two RBIs while Kaitlyn Tarin had a double. Aubrey Mullen knocked in two runs.

“Neveah Davis was clutch again today and got us going with a line-drive triple down the left-field line,” Kennedy said. “She added another hit and pitched two shutout innings for the save.”

Antoni worked three scoreless innings for the win, striking out four and walking five. Davis earned the save with two innings of one-hit relief. She struck out four and walked none.

Upper Lake statistics were not reported.

Mountain Vista hosts Middletown on Monday at 4:30 p.m. Both teams are undefeated in league play.
