Under-12 boys basketball team places fourth out of seven teams in Roseville

ROSEVILLE >> The Lake County Eagles under-12 traveling boys basketball team went 2-2 and finished fourth out of seven teams during the NorCal Middle School Championship held Friday through Sunday at the Roebbelen Center in Roseville.
The Eagles opened with a 51-34 win on Friday against the Apex Wolverines of Elk Grove, powered by a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double from Isaiah Reyes, and another all-around effort from William Pisaro, who added six points, nine rebounds, nine assists and six blocks. Charlie Mulanda chipped in another nine points, five rebounds and six steals while the Wienke brothers, Asten and Greyson, scored 10 points apiece, including some timely 3-pointers.
The Eagles returned to the floor Saturday afternoon and dropped a hard-fought 38-31 decision to YBA of Roseville. The Eagles held a 26-25 lead with four minutes remaining when YBA hit two 3-pointers to push ahead to stay.
Reyes led the Eagles with 12 points and seven rebounds, Asten Wienke had nine points, and Darius Dubose finished with five points. Jace Johnson came off the bench to log three steals.
Needing a win in their next game to remain in the running for third place, the Eagles got it Sunday afternoon with a last-second 39-38 victory over the Blitz out of the Bay Area. Reyes, who led the Eagles with 17 points, scored his final two on a layup with 10 seconds left to give his team the win. Reyes also pulled down 14 rebounds.
Prior to Reyes’ game-winning layup, the Blitz took a 38-37 lead on a 3-pointer with 20 seconds remaining.
Mulanda added 10 points and four rebounds while Pisaro had six points, 11 rebounds and six assists.
In the battle for third place that followed later Sunday, the Blue Devils Elite out of the Bay Area beat the Eagles 46-38. Reyes again led the Eagles with 15 points, Pisaro had eight and Johnson seven. Jaiden Griffith came off the bench to score four more.
