REDWOOD VALLEY >> The Mountain Vista Middle School co-ed soccer team won a pair of road games Monday, beating Eagle Peak 3-0 in the first game and 3-2 in the second game at Redwood Valley.
Walker Holt’s hat trick accounted for all three Mountain Vista goals in the second game, one of them assisted by Emma Escarcega.
“We came out and pressured the ball,” Mountain Vista head coach Oscar Lopez said. “We spot more time on their half of the field.”
In game one, Mountain Vista found a spark off its bench in the second half to extend a 1-0 halftime lead.
“We were very sluggish in the first half with no energy at all,” said Lopez, who made a handful of substitutions early in the second half that seemed to fix the problem.
Inteus Lopez, Alonso Rayoza and Anthony Arias scored Mountain Vista’s goals while Amelia Darling and Hiliana Rico had assists.
Mountain Vista (5-2) returns home Wednesday to play Pomolita at 4:30 p.m.
