Middle school volleyball regular season wraps up

KELSEYVILLE >> Mountain Vista roughed up Middletown, 25-13, 25-21, in middle school volleyball action Wednesday evening in Kelseyville, the league and regular-season finale for both teams.

“Mountain Vista showed up to play today,” Middletown head coach Vanessa Davis said. “The Broncos were definitely not ready to go or were able to play on their same level. The second set we were starting to get in our groove defensively, but we could not close the deal.”

Emma Davis finished with five kills and 11 digs for the Broncos (7-3) while Grace Williams had three kills and one block. Also for Middletown, Jaquelin Nunez had six service points, two aces and one kill, and Lilliaunna Reyes contributed four assists, three service points and one ace.

“Emma Davis had some extremely aggressive attacks that Mountain Vista dug up,” Davis said. “We just could not put the ball away.”

Both teams return to action Nov. 1-2 during the league’s postseason tournament in Upper Lake.

In other middle school action Wednesday:

At Clearlake, Upper Lake’s A and B teams split with Obsidian Middle School, the A team prevailing 25-10, 25-17 and the B team falling 25-22, 25-22.

In the A match, Upper Lake standouts were Kylee Solorio with 10 aces, Sabrina Wenning with seven aces, Jordan Parker with five aces and two kills, and Matilda Boomer with two kills.

In the B match, Upper Lake leaders were Kylee Foley with eight ace, Charlie Robbins with five assists, and Mariah Hoaglen with five kills.
