UKIAH >> Andres Yebra, Jaxx Salter, Westley Cory, Owen Willard and Kameron Colston of the Middletown Wrestling Club all brought home first-place medals Sunday from the Ukiah Enter the Den tournament.

Yebra won the middle school TOC 95-pound division, Salter won the second-third grades, 67-poiund division, Cory won the kindergarten-first 67-pound division, Willard won the fourth-fifth 130-pound division, and Colston won the middle school boys 128-pound division.

Middletown’s awards haul also included second-place medals from Waylon Willard (kindergarten-first, 70 pounds), Wyatt Willard (fourth-fifth, 130 pounds) and Troy Johnson (middle school, 128 pounds), and a third-place medal from Logan Parks (kindergarten-first, 43 pounds).

Three other Middletown wrestlers were a win away from a medal.

“The team has been working so hard,” Middletown head coach Dominic Fanucchi said. “We have been grinding six days a week and these kids just won’t stop. They truly are loving the sport and are passionate about it, which makes all of us excited to walk into the wrestling room daily for them to teach them.”

Added Fanucchi, “Special shoutout to Westley Cory. He had two pins on the day and came home with a gold. Westley comes in and works hard. He normally has to wrestled 12-and-under as a kindergartner, but this tournament had a kid his age and weight, so it was nice to see him be able to work his moves and show out for his family.”
