Knights defeat Cloverdale, fall to Willits in Coastal Mountain Conference action

KELSEYVILLE >> Kelseyville High School wrestling honored its seniors during its final home match of the season Wednesday night, then went out and split its two Coastal Mountain Conference matches, beating Cloverdale 54-17 and falling to Willits 52-28.
Kelseyville, now 7-1 in conference dual meets this season, received 10 forfeits against Cloverdale. The Knights won one of the four contested weight divisions, 122-pounder Laney Fossa pinning her opponent in 75 seconds.
Against Willits, the Knights won five of the contested weight divisions. Fossa (122), Cassius Cole (128) and Cody Holmes (152) all won by pin while Logun Whitte (115) and Andrew Souza (165) won by technical fall.
“What an incredible night for our team,” Kelseyville head coach Shane Carl said. “We faced some tough competition and moved to 7-1 for CMC duals. I couldn’t be prouder of how our athletes performed. It was a night filled with energy as our seniors truly stepped up and showcased their skills. The stands were packed with supportive families, creating an amazing atmosphere that fueled our efforts.”
Added Carl, “While some matches didn’t go as we hoped, we’re turning this experience into a valuable lesson. We’re eagerly anticipating our rematch against Willits at the section team dual championship next week.”
Kelseyville and St. Helena close out the CMC dual meet regular season next Wednesday in Lower Lake where the Knights will battle the host Trojans for The Shield
