Holley, Sanchez collect 10 kills apiece in straight-set victory over Los Medanos College

UKIAH >> Cora Holley and Briana Sanchez collected 10 kills apiece Friday night as the Mendocino College women’s volleyball team overpowered Los Medanos College of Pittsburg 25-14, 25-20, 25-10 in Bay Valley Conference action at Ukiah.

Mendocino improved to 2-0 in the conference standings and 6-8 overall with a strong team effort.

“It was a good win for us tonight,” Mendocino College head coach Kat Edmonds said. “I’m proud of the girls for staying up for the entire game. We had consistent energy and consistent play. Briana Sanchez had a personal best of 10 kills tonight and she played well defensively.”

Holley (Middletown) also had three blocks while Sanchez (Ukiah) added four digs.

Jayden Paulich (Kelseyville) finished with 26 assists, five digs, five kills and an ace in the Eagles’ home conference opener.  Cali Schnabl (Kelseyville) added 12 digs and four aces, Rylie King (Analy) had six digs, and Ava Diaz (Ukiah) seven digs, four kills and three aces.

Mendocino College returns to action 6 p.m. Wednesday at Yuba College.
