Seven team members participate in preseason tournament at Rocklin

ROCKLIN >> Colin Crow and John Young of the Gladiator Wrestling Club brought home first-place finishes from The Wild West Tournament on Saturday in Rocklin.

Seven Gladiators brought home five plaques from the preseason competition.

Crow won his division with a 3-0 record, scoring a major decision, tech fall and pin. Young won both of his matches.

Earning seconds were Thomas Philpot, who went 3-1 with two pins and a tech fall, and Kailaya Philpot in the middle school girls division (125 pounds). She went 3-1 with three pins. Philpot also placed sixth in the high school girls 124-pound division with a 2-3 record that included two pins.

Elijah Tucker and Jameson Philpot came away with fourth-place finishes, and Kaitlyn Crow placed sixth with a 3-2 record.

“For a preseason tournament of such large scale, the wrestlers did amazing with little to no practice beforehand,” Gladiator coach Jonathan Philpot said. “I am proud of all of them.”
