Volleyball teams square off during league action in Upper Lake

UPPER LAKE >> Upper Lake Middle School volleyball scored a pair of wins Wednesday against the visiting Middletown Middle School Broncos during league action in Upper Lake.
Upper Lake A beat Middletown A 25-10, 25-17 while Upper Lake B defeated Middletown B 25-14, 25-23.
In the A match, Anaya Kilstrom had nine digs, two kills and a block for Middletown. Lily Day and Rylee Gabbert also had kills.
Upper Lake statistics weren’t reported.
In the B match, Ariana Granados served 14 straight points, nine of them aces, to rally Middletown from an 18-9 deficit to a 23-18 lead in the second set, but Upper Lake rallied for the win.
“Ultimately, we were just not able to hold onto the lead,” Middletown B head coach Niki Emberson said.
“We struggled to pass the ball, had far too many service errors, and we were just off our game tonight,” Emberson said. “We started to snap out of it late in the second set, but it was a little too late.”
Upper Lake statistics were not reported.
Middletown’s teams are home Monday to play Lucerne.
