MIDDLETOWN >> Middletown Middle School’s A girls basketball team returned from the holiday break with a 32-21 non-league win over St. Mary’s of the Angels Catholic School of Ukiah on Monday in Middletown.

Anaya Kilstrom dominated for Middletown (9-2), scoring 18 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.

“It was great to get in a game after the holiday break to get us back into the competitive mode as we start the second half of the league season this week,” Middletown head coach Shannon Williams said. “We started strong and then let off way too much in the second quarter.”

After jumping ahead 14-1, St. Mary’s went on a 13-point run in the second quarter to pull even at halftime.

“We did a nice job of regrouping and finishing out strong,” Williams said. “We outscored them 18-7 in the second half.”

Emma Davis added six points and Alina Kilstrom had four.

Middletown’s defense came up with 15 steals.

The Broncos resume their league schedule Wednesday against Obsidian Middle School in Clearlake.
