Broncos win B match, drop A match in season opener against Pomolita

MIDDLETOWN >> Middletown Middle School’s A and B volleyball teams opened the season at home Thursday against Pomolita Middle School of Ukiah. The B squad posted a 26-24, 24-26, 15-12 win while the B squad fell 25-15, 25-15.

B team

Alice Welsh led the Broncos’ B team with 10 kills while also adding seven service points and two aces. Mia Martin contributed nine digs, seven service points and three aces, and Remmi Harbison had a team-best 11 digs as well as five service points and four assists.

“Our girls show grit, worked together and powered through long rallies,” Middletown B head coach Niki Emberson said. “We’ve got room to grow, but it’s shaping up to be an awesome season ahead.”

Middletown A head coach April White said she was pleased with her team’s first effort of the season.

“Our girls played hard,” White said. “They faced a solid team and are ready to learn from the experience. The team spread out the workload, all digging, swinging and serving well.”
