The Broncos were able to score 11 runs despite collecting only three hits, two of those off the bat of cleanup hitter Emma Davis, who went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and a RBI. Alina Kilstrom went 1-for-1.
Middletown batters walked eight times, and the Broncos also stole 14 bases.

In other middle school softball action Monday:
Mountain Vista 14, Laytonville 0 (4 inn.)
At Kelseyville, three Mountain Vista pitchers combined to shut out Laytonville as the Lancers cruised to an easy win over Laytonville, a game called after three and a half innings because of the 10-run rule.
Winning pitcher Taylor Wood struck out five over the first two innings. Madi struck out the side in the third while Paelynn Beall needed only seven pitches to retire the side in the fourth.
“A shoutout to Brooke Poff, who stepped up and played a great game at catcher when our starting catcher got injured in pregame warmups,” Mountain Vista head coach Patrick Mick said.
Carly Gleason and Gabby Keyes had the only Mountain Vista hits.
“Laytonville is a young team with good attitudes, and they are learning,” Mick said. “All of our runs came vis walks or getting hit by pitch. We had only a handful of strikes thrown to us.”
The lopsided nature of the game allowed Mick to empty his bench and get everyone some playing time.
“Everybody got in, even my first-year sixth-graders,” Mick said.
Mountain Vista (2-0) hits the road Thursday to play Fort Bragg, the Lancers’ league opener.
