Lancers prevail in three sets, hand Broncos first league loss

MIDDLETOWN >> Mountain Vista defeated the Middletown Broncos 25-14, 11-25, 15-12 in middle school A-team volleyball action on Monday evening in Middletown.
Emma Davis led the Mustangs with 10 kills, Ella DelZompo added three kills and six service points, and Lilliaunna Reyes finished with 10 assists, four service points and two aces.
“What a battle tonight in our Middletown Middle School gym,” Middletown head coach Vanessa Davis said. “It was amazing to watch well-developed volleyball play out on both sides of the net. Mountain Vista is a solid all-around team, but the Broncos gave them a fight every step of the way.”
Middletown closes out the first half of its league schedule at 4-1.
“We grew as a team tonight maintaining our toughness through last points of play,” Davis said. Lilliaunna played amazing at setter and led the team with a calm but fierce mentality. Emma Davis had some earth-shattering kills that rocked thse house. I love to watch her power and control unfold. Ell DelZompo really stepped into the spotlight tonight making incredible plays on defense and offense.”
Middletown plays Obsidian Middle School on Wednesday in Clearlake.
