Isaac Delgado scores pair of goals as Middletown Middle School wins home game

MIDDLETOWN >> Middletown Middle School’s co-ed soccer team is off to a great start in league play in its first year of existence.
On Monday, the Broncos beat visiting Upper Lake 4-1 behind two goals, one in each half, from Isaac Delgado, and single goals from Andres Yebra and Elijah Pulido. The team improved to 2-0 in league play and 4-2 overall.
On the attack for much of the first half, Middletown built a 2-0 halftime lead on goals by Delgado and Yebra.
Upper Lake closed to 2-1 early in the second half before Delgado scored his second goal of the game. Pulido scored on a breakaway later in the half to make it 4-1.
Sophia Perez assisted on Delgado’s second goal.
The Broncos received strong defense from Elizabeth Ahlmann, Katera Gotz and Trinity Wood.
Rain fell throughout much of the game and both teams had to deal with the wet field conditions.
Middletown is scheduled to play Mountain Vista Middle School on Wednesday in Kelseyville at 5 p.m.
