Raves rushes for 170 yards, three touchdowns in 25-12 road victory

FORT BRAGG >> Despite surrendering the most points they’ve given up this season, the Westshore pee wee football team improved to 6-0 on the season with a 25-12 win over the Fort Bragg Cubs on Friday evening in Fort Bragg.
“It was hard-fought battle this weekend against Fort Bragg, but the Westshore boys played great football in all phases,” Westshore coach Vince Rave said.
Vincent Rave rushed for 170 yards and three touchdowns as the Cardinals remained one game ahead of Lower Lake (5-1) in the Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League standings.
Adrian Wright also scored a touchdown while Chance Poland added an extra point.
“Our offensive line really had an awesome game and opened up some huge holes for our backs,” Rave said. “Defensively it was a hard-fought battle against a good team, but our defense stepped up an made plays when it mattered.”
Westshore had allowed only seven points in its first five games. The Cardinals have outscored the competition 99-19 this season.
Rave had a team-best eight solo tackles with four assists, Poland added five tackles and seven assists, and Tanner Black had four solo stops and five assists. Don Miller recovered a fumble.
“Our whole team played hard this weekend and got the win,” Rave said. “I’m proud of the way this group shows up each week ready to compete.”
Westshore remains on the road next Saturday to play Sonoma (0-7) at 4 p.m. Junior varsity action follows at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
