Trojans shut out Middletown Colts to remain game behind Westshore in standings

MIDDLETOWN >> Kameron Richardson rushed for 64 yards, three touchdowns and a pair of extra points as the Lower Lake Trojans shut out the Middletown Colts 21-0 in Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League pee wee action Saturday at Bill Foltmer Field.

Lower Lake improved to 5-1 in the league standings, just one game behind league-leading Westshore (6-0). Middletown fell to 3-3.

“My defense is very solid; it’s pretty impressive to see these guys at such a young age dominate their positions,” Lower Lake head coach Daniel Hooten said. “We saw three sacks this game.”

Brian Patrick made his first start at running back and led the Trojans with 119 yards, including an extra point.

“My team is hungry and getter better and better every week,” Hooten said. “I am very happy with my coaching staff and their passion to develop these kids on and off the field.”

Lower Lake hosts Kelseyville (1-4-1) on Saturday at 4 p.m. Junior varsity action follows at 5:30 p.m., and the varsity game kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
