Elijah Tucker rushes for three touchdowns, returns punt for another score

WILLITS >> Elijah Tucker ran for 131 yards and three touchdowns while also returning a punt 75 yards for another score in Middletown’s 24-0 win over the Willits Cougars on Saturday during pee wee action in the Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League at Willits.
Middletown improved to 4-1 behind a defense that limited Willits to 21 total yards. Danny Yell and Colton Noonis anchored the Colts’ defense with six tackles apiece while teammates Jeremiah Reyes and Cormic Lloyd each had five. Gunner Adams added three more.
“This was a great team win for us and much needed before we face a really good football team in Fort Bragg (4-1) next week,” Middletown head coach Cody Smith said.
Eli Hartley rushed for 62 yards on five carries while Shane Blanton gained 36 yards on his only carry of the day. Overall, the Colt finished with 274 rushing yards.
Middletown led 18-0 at halftime.
“We knew coming into this game Willits was going to be a tougher team than we have faced the last couple of weeks,” Smith said. “Proud of this team and how they stepped up to the challenge. I can’t say enough about our entire team blocking to the whistle this week and our backs blocking down the field. Willits challenged us by blitzing one or two guys all game up the middle, and they did great picking it up.”
Middletown hosts Fort Bragg next Saturday.
