LOWER LAKE >> Freddie Jeffries passed for one touchdown and ran for another as the Lower Lake pee wee youth football team clobbered Sonoma 40-6 in a Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League game on Saturday in Lower Lake.
Kameron Richardson rushed for more than 100 yards as the Trojans improved to 4-1 in the league’s pee wee standings.
Brian Patrick caught the touchdown pass from Jeffries and also rushed for a score and nearly 100 yards. He tied Jeffries for the team lead in tackles.
“We constantly have to tell Freddie not to hit the kids too hard,” Lower Lake head coach Daniel Hooten said.
Lower Lake’s roster was recently reinforced by the addition of Patrick and Ean Walsh. Patrick, a returning starter from last year, missed the first part of the 2024 season with an injury. Walsh is a first-year player who dropped 10-plus pounds to earn a spot on the team.
“He has been working his butt off all season,” Hooten said. “He is super powerful and is a problem on the defensive line. He had us all pumped up with his first sack.”
Wyatt Hooten rushed for both of Lower Lake’s extra points. Maxxwel Wilkins rushed for another extra point.
“We are running on all cylinders and are very excited to play Middletown this Saturday (in Middletown),” Hooten said.
The Lower Lake at Middletown game kicks off at 4 p.m. Junior varsity and varsity games follow.
