UPPER LAKE >> The junior varsity Northshore Cougars notched their first win of the season Saturday by shutting out Fort Bragg 33-0 during Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League action at Upper Lake High School.

Koen Gentry led the way with a huge rushing effort – 213 yards and two touchdowns. Ajay Valerio also topped 100 yards as he finished 108 yards and one touchdown. He also helped on defense with an interception.

Other defensive standouts were Bentley Brewer and Grayson Pena with eight tackles apiece.

“The kids deserved this after some very close games this season,” Upper Lake head coach Bradley Brackett said. “Fort Bragg came out passing that caught us off guard, but the team adjusted well and got their first shutout of the season.”
