Lower Lake youth football varsity squad routs Sonoma, improves to 4-1

LOWER LAKE >> Roy Percoats rushed for three touchdowns and returned an interception for a fourth score Saturday as the Lower Lake Trojans youth football team shut out Sonoma 30-0 in Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League action at Lower Lake.
Ismael Orozco made three of four conversion kicks following Percoats’ touchdowns as the Trojans improved to 4-1.
Three of Lower Lake’s first four touchdowns were set up by Sonoma turnovers, including Percoats’ pick-six and another interception by Adriyan Diaz.
“Our kids players really well,” Lower Lake head coach Mark Garner said. “Tony Velazquez did a really nice job blocking all night on offense and the entire defense did exceptionally well.”
Brilee Hayes led the defense with four tackles.
“It was a good all-around team effort,” Garner said.
Lower Lake hits the road next Saturday to play undefeated Middletown (5-0). Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. at Bill Foltmer Field. The pee wee game between the two teams starts at 4 p.m. and the junior varsity game follows at 5:30 p.m.
