Rico, Reyes scores goals in home game against North Coast Futbol Club

LAKEPORT >> The Konocti Unified Soccer Club built a 2-0 lead before settling for a 2-2 tie with the North Coast Futbol Club out of Petaluma on Sunday afternoon at Westside Park in Lakeport.

Mikaela Rico scored the only goal of the first half and Vanessa Reyes made it 2-0 by hitting a free kick 15 minutes into the second half. North Coast rallied to tie it with two goals in the final minutes.

“I have to give credit to our goalie, Cassie Rodriguez,” Konocti Unified head coach Irma Rodriguez said. “She did an amazing job today. She saved the game. She literally had some amazing saves, but Petaluma wasn’t having it and answered back, tying the game.”

Konocti United’s roster remains at less than 100 percent because of illness and injuries.

“The girls are playing hard and with heart,” Rodriguez said. “They played really good today. Every game they play I am so proud of them.”
