Club soccer team opens season against Corte Madera

LAKE COUNTY >> The Konocti United Soccer Club under-17 girls lost a hard-fought 4-3 season-opening decision to Corte Madera FC United on Saturday at Westside Park in Lakeport.
Mikaela Rico, Kathryn Wheelan and Kylee Denham scored for Konocti United (0-1).
“We have a small team this year and we are starting our season with one player hurt, one that came sick today and two others also not feeling 100 percent,” Konocti United head coach Irma Rodriguez said. “I thought we did very good. The girls played hard and never gave up despite only having one sub.”
Added Rodriguez, “I know that they all played and gave their all. I am very proud of the team.”
Konocti United hits the road next Saturday to play Napa United Academy.
