Mendo College women split two matches

Eagles defeat Lassen College in five sets, fall to Santa Rosa in four sets

STOCKTON >> Mendocino College women’s volleyball split its final two matches Saturday during the Delta Classic at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton.

The Eagles (5-8) completed the tournament with a 25-12, 27-29, 25-16, 25-27, 15-12 win over Lassen College, that after dropping a 25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 25-10 match to Santa Rosa Junior College earlier in the day.

In the loss to SRJC, Jayden Paulich (Kelseyville) recorded 27 assists while Maddy Brewster (Clear Lake) and Cora Holley (Middletown) led the team with seven kills apiece. Holley also had two blocks while Brewster logged 12 digs. Other team leaders were Stella Hill (Clear Lake) with 15 digs, five kills and two aces, and Breanna Pyzer (Middletown) with 14 digs and one kill.

Statistics from the win over Lassen were not reported.

Mendocino College is back in action plays Merced and Diablo Valley College on Wednesday at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill. Match times are 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
