ROCKLIN >> The Gladiator Wrestling Club sent eight members to the Wild West Preseason Opener on Sunday at Sierra College in Rocklin and two came away with championships.
Elijah Tucker and John Young brought home first-place finishes while Colin Crow and Kaitlyn Crow earned runner-up honors. Thomas Philpot came in third.
Also competing for the Gladiators were Jesiah Tucker, Jameson Philpot and Kailaya Philpot.
“The Wild West wrestling tournament always provides great competition,” Gladiators head coach Jonathan Philpot said. “For a season opener, it is a challenging tournament to enter right away. Our wrestlers performed well in the first tournament of the season, and we now have a clear understanding of what we need to work on.”
Gladiator wrestlers return to action Saturday at the Maria Carrillo Tournament in Santa Rosa.
