ORLAND >> Eric Holley was one of seven CORE Wrestling Club members taking part in the NorCal Elementary State Championships on Saturday in Orland.

Holley placed the highest, taking third after going 4-1 during the tournament.

“We had a lot of battles there were very close,” CORE coach Daniel Hooten said. “The competition was great. Eric Holley lost his first match and battled back to place third. I love to see how much he loves the sport. He had a terrible toothache and was on antibiotics, but he still wanted to wrestle, and he made it worth his while.”

CORE wrestlers will compete in the SAWA Sacramento Junior Invite Sunday in Rancho Cordova.
