Women’s volleyball team falls in straight sets to Shasta, West Valley

UKIAH >> The Mendocino College women’s volleyball team dropped its two non-conference home matches Wednesday, falling in three sets to both Shasta College, 25-17, 25-21, 25-15, and West Valley, 25-15, 25-15, 25-9.
In the loss to Shasta, Mendocino College leaders were AJ Wurm with nine assists, five digs, two kills, two blocks and an ace, Cali Schnabl with 14 digs, Mati Mateer with 10 digs and eight kills, Emily Gersalia with nine digs and nine assists, and Makayla Mace with five digs. Other team leaders were Layla Ramirez with five kills, five digs and two blocks, Brooke Benson with three kills and two blocks, Aimee Schaefers with four blocks, two digs and one kill, and Harley Holley with one kill.
Statistics for the West Valley match weren’t reported.
Mendocino College falls to 5-7 on the season. The Eagles hit the road Friday to play Clovis (1 p.m.) and Siskiyous (3 p.m.) at Solano College.
