Mendocino College beats Redwoods in four sets, loses to Siskiyous in four sets

UKIAH >> Mendocino College women’s volleyball split its two non-conference matches Friday, beating College of the Redwoods 25-23, 28-26, 24-26, 25-13 and falling to Siskiyous, which rallied for a 24-26, 25-18, 25-14, 25-23 win at Ukiah.
Mendocino College (5-5) avenged a loss earlier this month to Redwoods. Mati Mateer led the team with 15 kills, Emily Gersalia had 20 digs and 13 assists, AJ Wurm added 12 assists and eight digs, and Cali Schnabl finished with seven digs. Other team leaders were Aimee Schaefers with seven kills and Makayla Mace with seven kills and six digs. Harley Holley and Brooke Benson added two kills apiece.
In the loss to Siskiyous, Mateer banged out 18 kills to go along with 15 digs while Schnabl also had 15 digs. Wurm helped out with 19 assists, Mace added nine kills and 11 digs, and Schaefers contributed five kills. Other leaders were Gersalia with 19 assists and nine digs. Benson with four kills and Holley with two blocks.
Mendocino College hosts Shasta (2 p.m.) and West Valley (6 p.m.) on Wednesday.
