Middletown JVs win 30-6, run record to 3-0

Hudson Kelley runs for one touchdown, passes for another in victory at Kelseyville

KELSEYVILLE >> Middletown High School’s Dre Goins picked off a pass for the third straight game and also rushed for 74 yards in a 30-6 win over the Kelseyville Knights during junior varsity football action Friday night in Kelseyville.

Quarterback Hudson Kelley ran for one touchdown and passed to Blake Pullman for another as Middletown improved to 3-0 on the season.

The Mustangs scored 16 points in the second quarter for a 16-0 halftime lead. They added insurance touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters.

Kelley opened the scoring for Middletown with a 2-yard run, and Colton Rodrigues added a 1-yard run later in the second quarter. Rodrigues ran in the conversions following both touchdowns.

Lucas Hernanez extended Middletown’s lead with a 50-yard run in the third quarter. He also added the conversion run.

Kelley’s TD pass to Pullman in the fourth quarter capped the scoring for Middletown.

Quarterback Bradyn Ponce’s 2-yard run put Kelseyville on the board with 4:43 left in the game. Ponce also passed for 48 yards.

Hernandez was Middletown’s leading rusher with 94 yards on seven carries.

Kenya Rose anchored the defense with eight tackles while Hernandez, Rodrigues and Arden Bernal had five apiece. Kelley had an interception. The Mustangs limited Kelseyville to 102 yards of offense.

For Kelseyville, Jacob Wiser and George Cline recovered fumbles while Pops Pasalo and Mavrik Desimone each had five tackles.

Middletown hosts Upper Lake (2-0-1) and Kelseyville (0-3) travels to St. Helena next Friday at 5 p.m.
