Former Kelseyville High star Mateer records team-best 11 kills in 25-15, 25-17, 26-24 win

PITTSBURG >> Mendocino College’s 25-15, 25-17, 26-24 non-conference win over Columbia College on Friday afternoon at Los Medanos College had a distinctively Lake County flavor to it.
Mati Mateer led the Eagles (3-4) with 11 kills, and the former Kelseyville High School star also had five digs and three aces. Also contributing to the win were Cali Schnabl (Kelseyville) with 11 digs, AJ Wurm (Kelseyville) with 14 assists, six digs, three aces, two kills and one block, Makayla Mace (Middletown) with five kills, eight digs and two aces, and Brooke Benson (Lower Lake) with three kills, three aces, two digs and one block.
Mendocino College returns to action Wednesday against Skyline College at the College of Marin. Match time is 4 p.m.
