KHS girls host Clear Lake in official season opener Tuesday in Kelseyville

KELSEYVILLE >> Tuning up for their official season opener Tuesday at home against Clear Lake, the Kelseyville High School girls soccer team beat the Kelseyville alumni 5-3 Saturday night at Kelseyville High School.
Mikaela Rico, a returner from last season’s undefeated North Central League I-champion Knights squad, scored twice while freshman Hilana Rico and sophomore Ximena Herren had one goal each. Kelseyville also scored on an own goal.
First-year Knights goalkeeper Andrea Jimenez had a “great night” in the goal box, according to head coach Irma Rodriguez, who played for the alumni team. Jimenez logged several saves, one on a penalty kick.
“The alumni game gave the Lady Knights an opportunity to get some valuable game experience and compete together before the regular season begins,” Rodriguez said.
Kelseyville’s scheduled kickoff Tuesday against visiting Clear Lake is 4:30 p.m.
