18-under team completes tournament in Hayward with 2-1 record

HAYWARD >> The Lake County Softball 18-under team completed its tournament run Saturday in Hayward with a 12-5 win over the Livermore Vipers 18-under team and a 3-3 tie against the Santa Rosa Red Barons 16-under team.
Lake County went 2-0-1 in its three games.
In the 12-5 win over Livermore, Lake County fell behind 5-0 in the top of the first inning but rallied for six runs in the bottom of the first. Ashlynn Cruz extended that lead to 7-5 with a RBI groundout in the bottom of the second, then a five-run bottom of the third put the game away, three of those runs scoring on Addi Vipond’s inside-the-park home run.
Winning pitcher Bella Stillman pitched three scoreless innings for the victory, allowing four hits. She struck four and walked two.
Vipond went 2-for-2.
Earlier in the day during the 3-3 tie with the Red Barons, Sophia Gonzales pitched five innings for Lake County while allowing seven hits and three runs (two earned). She struck out one and walked one.
Amelie Davis went 1-or-2 with two RBIs.
