KELSEYVILLE >> Reeling off a school-record 22 wins, the 2025 Kelseyville High girls soccer team established itself as a North Central League I power, winning all 12 of its games, eight by shutout, under the direction of head coach Irma Rodriguez.

Kelseyville wasted no time announcing itself as a force to be reckoned with during the 2025 season. After playing winter soccer the previous three seasons, the Knights and head coach Irma Rodriguez returned to the NCL I’s fall soccer lineup with a vengeance. They won their first seven non-league games before dropping a 2-0 decision to Ferndale, then reeled off 15 victories in a row before losing a 3-2 double-overtime thriller to large school Eureka in the opening round of the North Coast Section playoffs.

For leading the Knights and a roster packed with both senior and underclassmen talent to a record-setting year, Rodriguez has been named the Lake County Sports Coach of the Year in girls sports for the 2025-26 sports season.

Kelseyville outscored the opposition 84-17 in its 24 games while recording 15 shutouts in all.

During league play, the Knights were only challenged in a handful of games. In one memorable game, the team rallied from a big deficit in the second half to beat Lower Lake 5-4.

“This season was truly special,” Rodriguez said of the Knights’ 2025 campaign. “These girls made school history, played with passion, and grew not just as players but as teammates and family. We couldn’t be prouder of how far they’ve come and the legacy they’ve built for Kelseyville soccer.”
