Pivniska on a 9-for-9 roll as Kelseyville beats Upper Lake 11-3 in league action

KELSEYVILLE >> Case Pivniska went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, giving him nine hits in his last nine official at-bats, and the Kelseyville Knights beat the Upper Lake Cougars 11-1 in five innings Wednesday afternoon during North Central League I varsity baseball action at Lloyd Larson Field in Kelseyville.

Pivniska had a double and triple among his three hits as the Knights improved to 8-3 in the league standings. Carson Stone went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs while Deake Lyndall (1-for-4) also knocked in a run. Michael Dougherty and JD Smart had the other Kelseyville hits.

Kelseyville built an 8-0 lead before Upper Lake scored its lone run in the top of the fifth inning. The Knights answered with two runs in the bottom half and another in the sixth, at which point the game was stopped because of the 10-run mercy rule.

Ryan Keithly pitched two innings for the victory, striking out five and walking none. Mikel Compton took the loss.

Upper Lake (1-10, 2-14-1) received hits from Carlos Narvaes, Jimmy Sanchez and Cameron Milhaupt. Mason Parker was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in the Cougars’ lone run.

Upper Lake hits the road again Thursday to play Clear Lake. Kelseyville remains home Friday to take on Cloverdale.
