Mountain Vista softball drops 12-8 decision

Mullen goes 3-for-3, Antoni 2-for-2 in loss to Pomolita

KELSEYVILLE >> Mountain Vista Middle School’s softball team dropped a 12-8 decision to Pomolita on Wednesday after in Kelseyville.

The Lancers (0-3) got off to a great start, scoring five times in the first inning, before Pomolita pulled ahead.

“We were in it until the last inning when Pomolita had some big hits,” Mountain Vista head coach David Kennedy said. “Overall, we played well and I’m proud of the progress we have made so far.”

Aubrey Mullen went 3-for-3 and losing pitcher Maylee Mantoni went 2-for-2 to lead Mountain Vista at the plate.

Amelia Kennedy, Cassie Keyes and Kaitlyn Tarin also had hits for the Lancers.

“Our bats are starting to come alive, and our pitching is starting to settle in,” Kennedy said.

Mantoni pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowing eight runs (three earned).

Mountain Vista travels to Cloverdale on Monday to play Washington Middle School.
