Wrestlers attend weekend tournaments in Corning, Willits

CORNING >> Middletown Wrestling Club members sent 11 wrestlers to Middletown and eight others to Willits over the weekend, bringing home 10 medals overall.

At the Corning Sharks Tournament, Amias Kennedy (kindergarten-to-first, 55 pounds) and Andres Yebra (middle school boys, 95 pounds) both came in first while Shiloh Fourie (kindergarten-to-first, 40 pounds) and Jaxx Salter (second-third, 65 pounds) brought home second-place medals.

At the Bob Colvig Tournament in Willits, Kameron Colston (middle school boys, 132 pounds), Carson Mackey (10-under, 93 pounds) and Zander Woods (6-8, 49 pounds) finished first.

Second-place medalists were Job Sanchez (12-under, 98 pounds) and Kian Woods,10-under, 84 pounds). Placing third was Logan Parks (6-8, 40-43 pounds).

Middletown head coach Dominic Fanucchi thanked his assistant coaches for making it possible for club wrestlers to attend two different events.

“We are proud of all of our wrestlers this weekend and excited to see the team in full force next weekend in Ukiah at the Enter the Den Tournament,” Fanucchi said.
