UPPER LAKE >> Upper Lake Middle School’s A boys basketball team beat Eagle Peak 38-32 on Friday night in Upper Lake, the Wildcats’ first game in more than a month.
“The boys were excited to be back on the court, and Eagle Peak brought their usual physical, competitive style of play,” Upper Lake head coach Dani Paige Gudmundson said. “From start to finish, our team worked as one unit on both ends of the floor. Defensively we communicated, played disciplined basketball, and stayed aggressive on the ball. Offensively we shared the ball, looked for the open pass, and trusted each other.”
Cayden Beecher led the Wildcats with a triple-double of 20 points, 14 rebounds and 12 steals. Junior Peregrina added seven points, five rebounds and five assists, Jose Delgado Beecher helped out with 10 steals, and Desmond Solomon led the team with 15 rebounds.
“While we’re proud of the effort, we know there’s always more work to be done,” Gudmundson said. “Our focus moving forward is staying hungry and motivated, continuing to improve, and preparing for next week.”
