LAKE COUNTY >> Sophomore Riley Hanson of Kelseyville High School is the most valuable player on the 2025 edition of the All-Lake County volleyball team as selected by Lake County Sports.
A strong combination of offense and defense gave Hanson the edge over some extremely talented Knights teammates, five of which joined her on the All-County team.
Kelseyville tied Cloverdale for the North Central League I championship this season, the Knights’ second league title in a row, but that was just the beginning of the story for head coach Donelle McCallister’s squad in 2025. Kelseyville went on to secure third place in the North Coast Section playoffs, and it won its first match in the NorCals before losing a five-set marathon to Escalon in the quarterfinals.
Kelseyville went 13-1 in league play and 23-10 overall.
Named to the All-County first team were Kelseyville’s AJ Wurm, Bella Patti, Mati Mateer and Madeline Borghesani, all seniors. They were joined by Middletown senior Carly Johnson and Upper Lake senior Aimee Schaefers.
Second-team selections were Kelseyville sophomore Olivia Bushey, Clear Lake seniors Faith McIntire and Atiana Patino, Lower Lake junior Khaya Chaney, Middletown senior Harley Holley, Middletown junior Bridget Lisenbee, Upper Lake senior Camila Martin and Upper Lake junior Alyssa John.
All athletes were awarded medals while MVP Hanson also received a crystal MVP plaque and an All-County team MVP pin.
The Deanna Goff family sponsored the All-County awards while the Clay Shannon family hosted the All-County photo shoot at its Clearlake Oaks Ranch. Lindsey Hamner of Kelseyville volunteered her services to photograph the athletes.
