KELSEYVILLE >> You may not realize it, but you just witnessed one of the better Lake County girls soccer teams make mincemeat out of its 2025 schedule.

The current-edition Knights have certainly earned a spot among Lake County’s all-time best girls teams with their 12-0 run through the North Central League I and 22-1 overall record following their 2-0 victory Tuesday night at home against the Lower Lake Trojans. Kelseyville has the opportunity to add to its legacy next week when the North Coast Section playoffs open. The at-large and seeding meeting takes place Sunday.

“We ended out regular season with a 12-0 league record and 22-1 overall (mark),” Kelseyville head coach Irma Rodriguez said. “It wasn’t our bet game, but I’m proud that I was able to give all the players some playing time, including all our seniors, since it was their special night. It was a great way to celebrate senior night and close out the regular season with a win.”

Kelseyville logged its 15th straight win and 15th shutout of the season. The Knights scored goals in each half against the Trojans (2-9-1, 3-12-2), who battled the Knights hard in both their league meetings this year. Kelseyville had to rally from a 3-0 deficit to beat Lower Lake 5-4 on Oct. 2 in Lower Lake.

Banesa Munoz scored in the first half for a 1-0 lead. Jocelyn Olea-Lopez found the back of the net in the second half with an assist from Esperanza Fernandez.

“Lower Lake fought hard, doing everything they could to stop our attack,” Rodriguez said. “In the second half, both teams played with a lot of effort and heart.”

As enjoyable as the league and regular season has been for the Knights, Rodriguez said the Knights need to turn their complete attention to their upcoming postseason opponents.

“Now it’s time to refocus, get ready for the playoffs, and keep pushing forward,” Rodriguez said.
