After 18-0 loss to Westshore, Chiefs look ahead to playoff game against Napa

KELSEYVILLE >> The regular season didn’t end the way the Kelseyville pee wee football team wanted, but the Chiefs aren’t done yet.

Despite an 18-0 loss to the Westshore Cardinals on Saturday during the Jr. Bass Bowl game at Kelseyville High School, Kelseyville (6-4) has a date with the Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League playoffs this coming weekend. The Knights play regular-season champion Napa (9-0-1) in the semifinals on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Kelseyville High School.

“Tough game against a good team,” Kelseyville head coach Joe Aiken said of the loss to Westshore to close out the regular season. “We will prep for Napa and get after it. These boys have come a long way, and I am excited for the next game.”

Napa defeated Kelseyville when the two teams played on Sept. 6 in Kelseyville.

Against Westshore (9-1), Austin Aiken rushed for 63 yards while Andrew Denham added another 26.

Defensive leaders were Eagle Feather Pasalo with three tackles and four assists, Jace McLoud with three tackles and three assists, Aiken with two tackles, 11 assists and one fumble recovery, Lawrence Kohl with two tackles and one assists, and Leo Woita with two tackles and two assists.

Offensive and defense MVPs are named during the Jr. Bass Bowl. For Kelseyville, those players were Denham (offense) and Aiken (defense).
