UPPER LAKE >> Blake Sneed scored twice and goalkeeper Alan Alvarado had eight assists, but the Upper Lake High School boys soccer team fell 6-2 to Roseland Collegiate Prep in non-league action Monday afternoon in Upper Lake where the Cougars honored their five seniors during the final home match of the season.

Daniel Rojas, George Rahmer, Jaden Nunez, Anthony Simondi and Aiden Dancer played their final home for the Cougars (5-17).

“We fought hard on senior night and played with heart,” Upper Lake head coach Thomas Santana said. “Daniel Rojas was playing out of his mind, making some of the best passes I’ve seen all year. Daniel was giving his teammates all the opportunities to score, but we just couldn’t convert.

Rojas had an assist on one of Sneed’s goals.

Sneed’s first goal came in the first half on a cross from Rojas.

“A great pass that Blake Sneed headed in for our first goal,” Santana said.

Roseland Collegiate Prep led 2-1 at halftime.

Sneed, a football player who has suited up for the Cougars in a handful of soccer games this season, scored again in the second half.

“Friday night (against Kelseyville) he got his first touchdown of the year and tonight he gets two goals,” Santana said.

Nunez, one of Upper Lake’s five seniors, had to sit out the game after being ejected in Upper Lake’s previous game.

“All in all, I’m proud of our effort,” Santana said of Upper Lake’s performance.

Roseland Collegiate Prep beat Upper Lake by the same 6-2 final on Sept. 30 in Santa Rosa.

The Cougars hit the road Tuesday to play Middletown in a North Central League I match at 4:30 p.m.
