UPPER LAKE >> The junior varsity Lower Lake Trojans certainly did their part to help Lower Lake win the “Battle of the Lake” series with the Northshore Cougars, posting a 34-0 victory in Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League action Saturday at Upper Lake High School.

The “Battle of the Lake” series, started in 2022, goes to the team that wins at least two of the three matchups between the Lower Laken and Northshore pee week, junior varsity and varsity teams. Lower Lake won all three games this year.

LaDontea Sellers ran for 99 yards and two touchdowns while Fredrick Jeffries passed for 100 yards, two touchdowns and two extra points. Kameron Richardson ran for another score while Thomas Philpot and Quentynn Conner scored extra points.

Brian Patrick and Judah O’Keefe led the team in tackles while Philpot and Jeffries also played well on defense.

Lower Lake scored all of its points in the first half, which brought the league’s mercy rule into effect for the final two quarters.

Lower Lake improved to 7-2 with the win while Northshore fell to 2-7.

The Trojans close out their regular season Saturday in Middletown against the undefeated Colts (9-0) at 5:30 p.m. Both teams are headed to the league’s playoffs on Nov. 1.
