UPPER LAKE >> Upper Lake Middle School’s A volleyball team earned runner-up honors in its own tournament, the Spikefest, on Saturday in Upper Lake.

The Wildcats won all three of their pool matches, beating Point Arena and Eagle Peak (Redwood Valley) in straight sets to reach the semifinal against Pomolita (Ukiah). Upper Lake won that match 25-23, 25-23 to earn a spot in the finals opposite Mountain Vista Middle School. Mountain Vista won 25-11, 25-11.

“I am very proud of how the team came together, communicated and won together,” Upper Lake coach Andrea Quiett said. “Unfortunately, we lost that drive and fell short to a very good Kelseyville team.”

Earning All-Tourney honors for Upper Lake were Marina Quiett, Talyn Sharp and Mariah Hoaglen.

Upper Lake is 8-1 on the season.
