MIDDLETOWN >> Vincent Rave rushed for 227 yards and three touchdowns while teammate Elius Mendoza scored on a 43-yard run Saturday as the Westshore pee wee football team defeated the Middletown Colts 25-13 in Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League play at Bill Foltmer Field in Middletown.

Westshore (6-1) is currently second in the pee wee standings, just a half-game behind Napa (6-0-1).

Josh King threw an 18-yard pass to Noah Freeman and scored an extra point for the Cardinals.

“Our line did great this week blocking and opening holes,” Westshore head coach Vince Race said.

King’s eight solo tackles anchored the Westshore defense. He also had two assisted tackles. Rave added six tackles and five assists, Cruz Munoz and Obie Knight collected five tackles apiece, Mayson Williams had three tackles and four assists, and Asher McNabb finished with three tackles and two assists.

“Overall, it was a great team effort,” Rave said. “Our boys played disciplined football and showed how much heart they have. I’m proud of how they responded this week after our tough loss to Napa last week.”

Westshore plays Northshore (0-7) this Saturday in Upper Lake at 3:30 p.m.
